'Perform, UK' Summer School at Hobbledown

All workshops and masterclasses have expert teaching from West End professionals. Enhanced DBS checked.
Led by Kelly Price whose career has spanned 20 years of working in West End shows such as Mamma Mia, Guys and Dolls & Chicago and on screen for Netflix, BBC & ITV. Alongside this, she has been teaching, mentoring students and directing theatre shows at the UK top drama schools.
Course Details
Performance Workshop, Week 1 - Skills
- 12th - 17th August
- Ages 11-17
- 10am - 4:30pm
Acting
Playful acting classes involving games and improvisation to develop confidence and creativity. Improving communication skills through voice and speech work. Learning about different theatrical traditions, how to break down text, work with scene partners and develop characters.
Singing
Ensemble singing to explore melody & harmony with a focus on storytelling. Students will also enjoy the opportunity to sing solo, if they desire, in a masterclass style.
Movement & choreography
Movement exercises to help build character, prepare the body for acting, singing and dance. An opportunity to learn choreography of various styles.
Performance Workshop, Week 2 - Ensemble
- 19th - 23rd August
- Ages 11-17
- 10am - 4:30pm
Ensemble week is where students combine elements of acting, singing and movement in true musical theatre style. We will develop a show, culminating in a performance in the Hobbledown theatre.
Masterclass 1
- Tuesday 27th August
- 10am - 4:30pm
Masterclass will be a fun and inspiring journey into musical theatre. You will be encouraged to bring along a song to workshop, be directed and offered advice on storytelling through song and singing technique. There’s no requirement to perform as much can also be learned from observing the class.
Masterclass 2
- Wednesday 28th August
- 10am - 4:30pm
Learn a song and routine from a West End show. Explore scene into song. Play with character and style.
